Dried Flower Wreath Workshop

Date: Tuesday, February 16

This workshop will teach you how to arrange dried flowers into a wreath. Choose from a wide variety of dried flowers and colors, and take your wreath home for new decoration or create a gift for someone special. You will even learn a few techniques on how to dry flowers at home. The cost of this class includes instruction and all supplies.

Basic Computer Skills

Ladies Day Away

Have you ever wanted a day to just get away and do your own thing? We're providing the location, you provide the activity. Quilting, scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, crafting, painting, reading, etc. Come for a couple hours, or join us for the whole day. A quiet area with computers will be available if you'd like to get some work or studying done...away from home.

Writers Support Group

Dates: Tuesdays, January 5, February 16, March 30, & May 11
Location: Amundson Center
Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Fee: $5 per meeting

Do you like to write but don’t really consider yourself to be a “writer”? Make a list of what you like to write about and bring it to class for discussion. Get your motivation from others in the group and the inspirational prayers that focus on writing from a Christian perspective. Women and men, all ages and skill levels are welcome.

Pottery

Instructor: Jason Brabender, BFA – Ceramics

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn the basics of pottery and create decorative and functional projects from raw clay. Techniques will be taught on both electric and kick wheels. Participants will leave with finished products. This class is also open to both new and experienced potters. Min 8 / Max 10.

Stained Glass Snowflake Workshop

Date: Sunday, January 24
Time: 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Location: CHS Art Room
Instructor: Cindy Parmer, Vinery Studio
Fee: $50 R / $65 NR

No experience is necessary to create these seasonal decorations. Participants will use bevels, precut glass shapes, iridized and textured glass to make a stained glass snowflake. You will learn the basics of foiling and soldering and will leave with a finished project and, perhaps, a new hobby! All materials and use of necessary tools are included.

Mosaic Mailboxes

These are functionally fun and you'll be the envy of the block with your new outdoor decoration! We will teach you the basics along with some great tips and techniques for creating your masterpiece. This is a big project, so you may have some homework, but we will show you all of the steps and use class time to finish your project. Materials and tools provided.

Sign Language Basics

Instructor: Sharon Daly, Certified Deaf & Hard of Hearing Teacher
Fee: $50 R / $65 NR

Have you ever wanted to learn American Sign Language? This beautiful language will help you connect with deaf sign users. People also learn sign to communicate with babies and toddlers before they can speak. Sign Language Basics will introduce students to the basics of ASL grammar, and introduce vocabulary that will be useful in communicating with deaf people in a variety of situations. Instructor, Sharon Daly, has extensive experience as a sign language teacher, and has taught deaf students K-12. A sign language text, as well as videos, websites, and classroom discussions will be utilized in this course.
