The Cambridge Community Pool, located in the Cambridge Elementary School, is managed by the Cambridge CAP. This beautiful facility offers eight lanes and a thirteen foot diving well. The pool is open year round to both residents of the Cambridge School District and non-residents. We offer swim lessons, certification courses, open and lap swim, water fitness classes, swim team and much more! The Cambridge pool is the perfect place to host your next birthday party or special event. Please contact Lesli Buehler, Aquatics Director, for more information or to start your membership today!

Water Safety Instructor Course

Dates Times
August 11, 12, 13   4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
August 14, 15   8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Ages: 16 & up Location: CACP
Fee: $150 R / $185 NR

Based on the American Red Cross guidelines, this course training participants to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course and the Learn to Swim program. Upon successful completion of the courser, you will receive a Water Safety Instructor (valid for two years) certificate from the American Red Cross. Participants must complete the pretest on the first day in order to continue with the course and attend all dates.

Pretest includes proficiency in performing the following strokes:
* 25 yards: front crawl, back crawl, side stroke, elementary backstroke
* 15 yards: butterfly
* Tread water for one minute
* Maintain position on back either floating or skulling for one minute
* Tread water for one minute

Participants MUST attend all dates and times; no exceptions.

Lifeguard Certification Course

Dates: August 2-5
Times: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Ages: 15 & up
Location: CACP
Fee: $175 R / $210 NR
Take this course and become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. Individuals must pass a skill test including:
• 300 yard swim- 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke
• Swim 20 yard approach, retrieve 10 pound brick from bottom of pool and return back 20 yards to starting point
• Tread water for 2 minutes

Participants MUST attend all dates and times. No exceptions!

Adapta-quatics Program

The Cambridge Area Community Pool is pleased to announce that for the third year running we have recieved a grant to fund the Adapta-quatics program. The Alliant Energy Foundation, Inc has provided the Cambridge pool with $500 to run the program.

The Adapta-quatics program is designed to give developmentally disabled children the opportunity to learn to swim. CAP is asking those interested in applying to receive private swim lessons to contact Lesli Buehler at 608-423-8097 or lbuehler@cambridge.k12.wi.us by May 31, 2010.

Water Fitness descriptions:


Fit after 50
This non-impact, cardiovascular workout is desinged to build muscles, increase flexiblity and improve functional fitness. Each class will be held in the shallow end of the pool and will end with a stretching sessions for a total body workout. Classes are continual and are held on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.

Aquacize
Join this fun, upbeat, and challenging class that will increase you cardiovascular stamina while building muscle. Routines will include exercises in both the shallow and deep water. Come ready to sweat, work, and have a good time. Classes are continual and held on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:00 - 8:00 pm and Saturdays from 10:00 - 11:00 am.

AquaZumba Days: Friday, September 17 – November 5
Time: 8:15 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.
Location: CACP
Instructor: Lynnette Brown, Certified Aqua Zumba Instructor
Fee: $56 R / $71 NR or $9 per class

"Ditch the Workout, Join the Party™"! This ultimate pool party workout is a unique blend of Latin inspired music and dance rhythms such as salsa, reggae ton, and samba transformed into aquatic fun. Aqua Zumba® is also known as "exercise in disguise" because before you know it the class hour is done and you have burned between 400 and 1,000 calories without breaking a sweat! This class is great for all ages, especially those who have physical disabilities or injuries, and it does not require any swimming. Please bring your swimsuit, towel, and water bottle....water shoes are optional but may help grip the pool bottom while dancing.
