Cambridge School District Receives Funding for Pool
The Cambridge Area Community Pool became compliant with the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act in 2009. The Act required all public pools to have additional devices or systems designed to prevent suction entrapment installed by December 31, 2009. Through the generosity of the Cambridge Community Foundation, the Cambridge State Bank, and the John F. Vucurevich Foundation, the Cambridge School District was able to complete the mandated changes. During the down time for the repairs, the Cambridge School District also thought it was important to complete other repairs needed. The completed project ($23,895.25) included VBG compliance alterations, tile repair and acid washing of the pool deck, grouting of the inside shell of the pool, and replacement of the strainer basket in the chemical room.
