Track Camp 2008

Dates: Tuesdays and Thursdays, August 12 - 28

Tennis Lessons

Learn how to play the ever popular, growing game of tennis! Back by popular demand, the CAP is offering tennis lessons for youth. Participants must bring water, tennis racquet, tennis schoes, and must arrive 5 minutes early for lessons. No make up classes or refunds will be issued for missed classes or rained out classes. Minimum 5 participants/max 10 paricipants per class.

Baseball/softball/little league registration information

Baseball and Softball Registration will take place on Saturday, April 19 at Cambridge Elementary School from 8:00 – 10:30 am. If you are unable to make registration, registration forms and payments may be dropped off at the Activities Office by April 18. No registrations will be accepted after April 18.
**Note: Registration for Little League is due March 20.

Tiger T-ball

Code: 62810
Date: June 15 – July 20, Saturdays (skip July 5)
Time: 8:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.
Fee: $20
Age: 5 & 6 year old boys and girls

Tiger T-ball teaches children the proper techniques of throwing, catching, hitting, and running the bases. A low-key, fun approach will be used to teach the fundamentals to the children. Children must be 5 years old by June 15.

Coach Pitched

Age: 7 – 9 year old girls and boys, or those have attended 2 years of T-ball

In this league, coaches are used to pitch to players. More information will be available early spring. New this year, 7 and 8 year old girls are eligible for U8 traveling softball.

American League

American League is a traveling league (parent transportation required). Games begin in early June and are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Coaches will contact players to notify of practice times. Eight year olds are eligible to try out for American League teams.

National League is a traveling league (parent transportation required). Games begin in early June and are played on Mondays and Wednesdays. Coaches will contact players to notify of practice times.

Teener League

Amercian Legion

Age: 16 – 19 years old

American Legion is a traveling league (parent transportation required). Games are played in the evenings. Schedule will be set by coaches, and players will be contacted to be notified of practices and games. Interested students must contact the CAP office directly by February 11th, 2008.

Softball

The Cambridge CAP participates in the ASA sanctioned Windmill Girls Fast Pitch League. Girls are divided into leagues according to their age - cutoff for all softball leagues is the previous January 1. Please provide birth date on registration form.

All levels are traveling leagues (parent transportation required) and games are played both home and away. Teams will be formed after all registrations are processed. Coaches will contact players to notify them of first meeting date. Practice schedules will vary from coach to coach. Softball runs early June through early August. Registration fee is $50. Equipment is provided; girls must have their own softball glove. There is a two-fee limit for families with additional children.

Coed Basketball Camp

Date: June 10 - 12

A great opportunity for your child to improve their basketball fundamentals! The camp, lead by CHS varsity coaching staff, will emphasize the following basic fundamentals: shooting, ball handling, passing, moves with and without basketball, rebounding and one-on-one defense. Your child will participate in daily league games. Also included in the cost of this camp is a commemorative t-shirt.

Girls Swish Clinic

Date: Sundays, June 15 - July 20 (no clinic July 6)
Time: 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
Grades: 6 - 9
Location: CHS Gymnasium
Instructor: Mike Jeffery
Fee: $60 R / $70 NR

Join the varsity coaching staff for this exclusive, “girls only” shooting clinic that develop your daughter’s basketball shot. Each session will develop and focus on different skills involved in improving the shooting motion. Drills will include relocation shooting, screen/cutter shooting, shooting off the dribble, and the jab-step series. Both perimeter scoring and post moves in the lane will be emphasized, along with free throw shooting. Max 30 participants. *Proceeds will benefit the CHS girls’ basketball program.*

Junior Jazzercise

Time: 11:40 a.m. (immediately after summer school) - 1:30 p.m.

Join Mrs. Bell for some after summer-school fun! Your child will dance to the latest music while learning about health and nutrition. The exciting class also includes a craft to bring home each week! Please bring a sack lunch and a water bottle; we will provide an afternoon snack.

Blue Fins Swim Team- Registration Closed

The Blue Fins is a competitive youth swim team open to any swimmer from Kindergarten to 12th grade who has passed the American Red Cross Level 3 swim lessons or has comparable skills. Our emphasis is on teamwork, individual motivation, self esteem, and fun. Swimmers improve their swimming skills, get great exercise and make new friends. Less skilled swimmers may be required to take outside lessons to help improve their stroke skills. Participants are required to attend at least two of the four practices per week and participate in 75% of the meets throughout the season. Parents are required to help at home swim meets.

Blue Fins Stroke Technique Camp

Date: July 7 - July 24 (Mondays thru Thursdays only)

The Blue Fins stroke technique camp is being offered again this summer! You will get complete technical evaluation and instruction, drills for self awareness of stroke styles and performance! These three week will focus on the butterfly/breast stroke, free/back stroke, and flip turns/starts. Minimum of 12 participants needed to run the program.

Girls Volleyball Camp

Dates: August 4 – 7
Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Grades: 5 – 8
Location: CHS Gymnasium
Fee: $50 R / $60 NR

At this exciting camp, the Cambridge volleyball coaching staff will teach your child the fundamental skills of volleyball. Your child will learn passing, setting, serving, spiking, blocking, and game strategy. The camp is a must for those wanting to stay in shape, have fun, and improve their volleyball skills. Also included in the cost of this camp is a commemorative t-shirt.

Jr. Jazzers Fun Night ***Cancelled due to instructor injury***

Your child won’t want to miss this evening of fun! Mrs. Bell’s class includes a snack, craft project, games, and dancing. Your child will love this opportunity to bond with friends and dance the night away!

Fall Recreational Soccer

Date: Saturdays, September 6 – October 11
Location: CES Soccer Fields
Fee: $25 R / $35 NR

A fun, exciting, recreational soccer league open to all youth ages 5 – 13. Games are played at 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., or 10:30 a.m., dependent on registration numbers. Practices are held for the different teams at the discretion of their respective coaches. You will be contacted by a coach as to your child’s team assignment. If you are interested in coaching please contact the CAP office. Registration deadline is Friday, August 15.

U6
Open to 5 and 6 year old children – please note child must be 5 years old by September 6. U6 is intended to be an introduction to soccer – focusing on the fundamentals of the game and having fun. Children play small sided soccer (3 on 3) on small sized fields (25 X 30 yards). They play four 8 minute quarters; referees and goalies are not used at this level.

U8
Open to 7 and 8 year old children. Children in U8 will play 4 on 4, on a 30 X 35 yard field. They will play four 10 minute quarters with one referee. Goalies are not used at this level.

U10
Open to 9 and 10 year old children. Children in U10 will play on a 60 X 45 field and will play 6 on 6 or 8 on 8 – depending on program numbers. Participants will play four 12 minute quarters. There will be two referees and goalies used at this level.

U13
Open to youth ages 11-13. ALL of the youth who sign up for U12 will practice together, sharing the same coach. They will be broken up into different teams for weekend play. This league will only run if there is enough interest.

NFL Flag Football

Date: September 8 – October 8 (Mondays and Wednesdays)
Grades: K - 5
Location: CES Fields
Fee: $30

NFL flag will have your child begging for more! Your child will receive a top of the line NFL jersey as part of their participation. Practices are held for the different teams at the discretion of their respective coaches. You will be contacted by the coaches as to your child’s team assignment. All games will be played at the CES fields. Watch for information on registration to be in the Cambridge News in July. Again this year, all participants must register online at www.nflyouthfootball.com Due to the registration process of NFL program, all participants must be registered by August 15; late registrations will NOT be accepted. Anyone needing internet access is encouraged to visit the CAP office, room 115 of the Cambridge High School.

The Cambridge CAP is excited about adding validity to our youth sport programs and ensuring our coaches are well prepared to work with your children.
