Lifeguard Instructor Certification Course
Lifeguard Instructor Course 2019
Dates: March 1-3
Times:
March 1 = 4-8pm
March 2 = 8am-5pm
March 3 = 8am-5pm

Ages: 17 & up
Fee: $190 R / $200 NR

Lifeguard Instructor course will train and certify participants to be an American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED Instructor, valid for 2 years.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 17 years old on the last class date
  • Must hold current American Red Cross Lifeguard, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer
  • Participant must complete the American Red Cross online precourse prior to first class date.
  • Successful complete prerequisite skills according to Red Cross standards

Participants MUST attend all dates and times. No exceptions!  Minimum 6 participants.

Lifeguard Instructor REVIEW Course

Saturday, March 23 | 8am-4pm

Ages: 17 & up
Must hold current Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor Certifications.

Prerequisites: Must be a currently certified Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor or Lifeguard Instructor Trainer in the r.2017 program.                       Certification: Upon completion of the review, the Lifeguard Instructor or Lifeguard Instructor Trainer certification will be renewed for 2 years if the instructor maintains the Red Cross requirement of teaching one class per year.

Registration: Please register using the name and email address associated with your Learning Center profile to ensure you receive credit for completing the course.

Fee: $25

 Take this course and become an American Red Cross certified lifeguard. Individuals must pass a skill test including:

  •  300 yard swim- 100 yards front crawl, 100 yards breaststroke, 100 yards of either front crawl or breaststroke
  •  Swim 20 yard approach, retrieve 10 pound brick from bottom of pool and return back 20 yards to starting point
  •  Tread water for 2 minutes

Basic Level Add-on: Instructors who wish to achieve a basic-level lifeguarding certification to work as a Lifeguard will have the option to “test out” at the conclusion of the Lifeguarding Instructor Review course. Instructors/ITs who choose to attend the “test out” session and successfully complete all basic-level course requirements will earn an American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certification, valid for 2 years. Register for the add-on online when registering for the Instructor Review.

Fee: $40 (add-on fee)

This “test out” session includes:

  • Lifeguarding Pre-course skills evaluation
  • Lifeguarding course final skills scenarios
  • Two final written exams (CPRO/First Aid and Lifeguarding Skills)

Water Safety Instructor Course

Water Safety Instructor Course 2019
Dates: March 27-31
Times:
March27-29 = 4-8pm
March 30-31 = 8am-4pm

Ages: 16 & up
Fee: $200 R / $230 NR

Based on the American Red Cross guidelines, this course trains participants to teach water safety, including the Basic Water Rescue course and six levels of the Learn to Swim and Parent and Child Aquatics. Upon successful completion of course, you will receive a Water Safety Instructor (valid for two calendar years) certificate from the American Red Cross. Participants must successfully complete the pretest on the first day in order to continue with the course and attend all dates.

Pretest includes proficiency in performing the following strokes:
• 25 yards: front crawl, back crawl, side stroke, breast stroke, elementary backstroke
• 15 yards: butterfly
• Maintain position on back either floating or skulling for 1 minute
• Tread water for one minute

Participants MUST attend all dates and times. No exceptions!  Minimum 6 participants.
