Swim Lesson Instructors

  2. Must hold current certification in: American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety, American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

CAP CARE Assistant Teacher

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Child Care Coordinator, the Child Care Assistant Teacher shall support daily activities, as well as implementing lesson plans. Job responsibilities will also include checking children in and out of the facility, preparing and assisting with snack times, providing positive direction for activities, and communication with parents and staff.   Approximately 20 hours per week. Hours could be from 6:00 – 8:00 am and/or 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Youth Center Aide

General Description:

Under the supervision of the Youth Center Director, the Youth Center Aide’s primary function is to assist in the daily operation of the Cambridge Area Youth Center. Aides will be at least a minimum of 18 years old, and be able to work well in a collaborative environment supporting the purpose of the youth center which is to provide a free drop in after school program to Cambridge students in grades 5-8.

Summer Internship
Primary Responsibilities:  The CAP Intern is responsible for assisting the CAP Director and administrative team in managing and developing a working recreation department.  The intern will gain experience in day-to-day youth sports operations, pool operations, program planning, budgeting, personnel supervision, and summer day camp activities.  The primary area will be youth baseball and softball where they will assist in scheduling umpires and fields, field maintenance, facilitating leagues, and working with the public on a daily basis.

Qualifications:  The successful candidate will have completed at least three years of formal education in park and recreation management or a closely related field from a college or university.  Strong communication and organizational skills, experience in working with the public, and knowledge of baseball programming and field maintenance is preferred. Must be able to operate basic computer software and possess First Aid CPR/AED certification or ability to obtain is desirable.

Educational Aspects:  Intern will learn hands-on the daily operations of a recreational program.  Scheduling, purchasing, budgeting, and program development will be covered in the internship. The intern will develop people skills through working with the general public, youth athletes, the CAP Board of Directors, and CAP employees.

Duration and Wage:  The position will begin late May or early June and end mid to late August (approximately 11-12 weeks), or depending on the credit requirements of the student. This internship offers a $1,000 stipend that is paid at the midway and ending point of the student’s internship commitment. CAP hosts interns from accredited colleges and universities. However all applications will be considered.
