Director of Athletic & Fitness Operations

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Oversees the planning, implementing, administering, supervising, instructing and evaluation of the Cambridge Community Fitness Center and various youth and adult recreation programs such as: sports, activities, fitness programs and special events. Major responsibilities include direct supervision and coordination of the Fitness Center, youth and adult athletics, and fitness programs. This position coordinates program logistics to include facility scheduling, preparations, budgeting, supply ordering and instructor orientation. Requires ability to oversee part-time staff and also to work with limited supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Leisure Services or a related field. One to two years of recreation experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position. Red Cross certification in CPR and First Aid is desired. Knowledge of philosophies, principles, and practices of recreation. Knowledge of recreation sports administration and fitness. Related leadership experience. Knowledge of fitness equipment and facilities maintenance necessary for recreation programs. Ability to plan and supervise the work of others. Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate recreation programs and maintain good customer service. Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License.

HOURS AND DATES:

Position is expected to work 40 hours, including occasional nights and weekends. Salary range $32,000 – $35,000 depending on qualifications.

Part Time Custodian

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsibilities include basic custodial duties such as floor care, cleaning of the bathrooms and fixtures, general cleaning, snow shoveling, light maintenance, set up and take down for special activities, emergency clean up and other duties as assigned.  Ideal candidate will have knowledge of general maintenance skills.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Cleaning and general maintenance of the Cambridge Community Pool, CAP CARE facility, Cambridge Food Pantry, and Youth Center.
  • Washes towels, blankets, and pillow cases for program needs.
  • Assists with take down for Youth Basketball Saturday games and cleans up after the events.
  • Works varying hours to meet the needs of the programs due to programs and special events being conducted outside of normal office hours.
  • Attends required staff meetings.
  • Experience in cleaning and general maintenance preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in cleaning and general maintenance preferred.

WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

  • Must be able to travel throughout the community for cleaning in multiple locations.
  • Ability to obtain a valid driver’s license from the State of Wisconsin.
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

HOURS AND DATES:

Position is required to work approximately 12-15 hours per week including occasional weekends, and as needed for each program area. Pay is commensurate with job experience and qualifications.

Lead Groundskeeper

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The lead groundskeeper positon will assist and execute in the daily grounds and maintenance operations of Ripley Park. This independent worker directed by the Parks, Recreation, and Youth Director will complete functions that assist in the quality and overall appearance of the park during the season.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive; other duties may be required and assigned.

  • Assist in supervision and training of seasonal grounds and maintenance staff
  • Operate vehicles and park equipment
  • Trimming/mowing and removal of brush, limbs and saplings
  • General cleanup of the park, beach, restrooms, grills, and shelters
  • Perform general maintenance duties including minor plumbing and electrical.
  • Assist with assembling/takedown of seasonal Holiday Lights displays
  • Work occasional mornings, nights, holidays, and weekends to meet needs of park and shelter rentals.
